About
Welcome to Que Ling Vietnamese Cuisine, a hidden gem located at 248 Boulton Ave, Toronto, ON M4M 1Y3. This charming eatery is tucked away just off Gerrard in Old Chinatown, where visitors are greeted with a warm familial welcome the moment they step through the door. Despite its humble, hole-in-the-wall appearance, Que Ling serves a thoughtfully curated menu that offers all the classic Vietnamese staples you crave.
As I perused the menu, I was immediately drawn to the delightful array of noodle soups—each dish more tantalizing than the last. The Bun Rieu and Bun Bo Hue stood out from the crowd, bursting with flavor and crafted with fresh ingredients. The broth in the Pho Đac Biet was nothing short of sublime, infused with spices that dance on your palate, and the tender cuts of meat complemented the vibrant noodles perfectly. Hands down, patrons rave that this spot serves the best pho on the east side of Toronto, and I can confidently affirm that this is no exaggeration.
Another highlight of my visit was the Banh Cuon Thit, which melted in my mouth—soft and warm, it offered a perfect balance of textures. Add to that the renowned spring rolls, which my fellow diners praised for their crispiness and flavorful filling, and I found myself in food heaven. With a small yet delectable menu that caters to both traditionalists and adventurous eaters alike, Que Ling is swiftly becoming a favorite among locals in East Chinatown.
For the early risers, this cozy spot opens at 9 AM daily (except Tuesdays), making it an excellent location for a comforting breakfast of Vietnamese classics. The energy in the dining area is palpable, with diners sharing their love for authentic cuisine in a space that feels as though it belongs in a movie. Keep in mind, as it is cash-only, it’s wise to bring some bills along to enjoy these culinary delights.
In short, Que Ling Vietnamese Cuisine beautifully combines a passionate commitment to flavors with an inviting atmosphere. Whether you’re a fan of hearty soups or delicious rolls, your experience here will be memorable. Don’t miss out on this fantastic dining experience—the flavors of Vietnam await you!
“ This hidden gem is tucked away just off Gerrard in Old Chinatown is a must-visit. As you step through the meat-locker-style entrance, you might be caught off guard by its unassuming, hole-in-the-wall appearance. But the moment you walk through the actual front door, you're met with a warm family welcome. The menu is small but well-curated, featuring all the Vietnamese staples. The Bun Rieu and Bun Bo Hue were fresh and bursting with flavor, while the Banh Cuon was perfectly warm and melt-in-your-mouth soft. One of the best things about this spot? They open early—9 AM every day (except Tuesdays)—so if you're craving Vietnamese cuisine for breakfast, you don’t have to wait until the usual 11 or 12 like most spots. ”
“ Hands down the best Pho is the east side. Diner vibes, amazing spring rolls and coffee is strong and hot! ”
“ Love the atmosphere of this restaurant, it is small but has a lot of character in the space and feels like it belongs in a movie. Very intimate which is fun. Got the pho and bun bo hue, both of the meats in the soup were excellent and tender with just so much flavor and fat. I have been to other places where they provide less meat for the same price. Also their spring rolls were quite excellent. They are cash only, and a bit slower on service sometimes but would go again. ”
“ delicious food, made fresh and served quickly, great portions and adequately priced! our new favourite vietnamese restaurant in east chinatown, if you were a fan of bach yen, this place is for you! all items below were delicious, fresh and of great portions, and recommend trying: Bun Nem Nuong Cha Gio Ph& Tai Bo Vien Banh Cuon Thit *there can be a lineup in the weekends, bring cash. ”
“ Very nice Vietnamese restaurant with great service and delicious food. Had the Pho Dac Biet and the broth was very flavourful and the meat and noodles were well balanced. Will definitely come back whenever Im in the area and highly recommended for anyone to try out. ”
“ My absolute favourite Vietnamese restaurant in Toronto!!! Having been to so many places for pho, this is definitely on the top of my list. The homemade spicy sauce is SO GOOD and you can’t go wrong with any of their dishes. Strongly recommend you try their spring rolls and rice rolls. ”
“ Homestyle Vietnamese at its best. I primarily come for the Bahn Cuon (rolled rice noodles) as it's not as common as the standard offerings at Pho restaurants. I had reviewed Que Ling years ago, but I guess Google removes older reviews. I will going to add more photos later. ”
“ 01 Jan. 2025 You know when you dream about wonderful food and sometimes it's not as good the second time around? Well, this was not the case with Que Ling. It was super delicious once again when we returned a few days later. Went back because I kept dreaming about that rich pho broth, which is life changing. This time we showed some restraint and managed to snap a pic of #1 Vietnamese Steamed Rice Rolls with Meat before we dug in. Ordered as well: #9 Rare Beef & Tendon Rice Noodle Soup #25 BBQ Meat, BBQ Pork Sausage & Spring Rolls with Vermicelli #4 Pickled Lime on Ice Portions are generous. All ingredients are fresh and dishes are flavourful. Service is fast. Meal with tax and tip was under 55. They have limited seating, so, no lingering after the meal. There is patio seating in warmer weather. They have a lot of take-out orders. Love this place! What a great start to the new year. --- 26 Dec. 2024 Homemade Vietnamese food is like a warm hug on this cold Boxing Day 2024. Went there for lunch today and the place started to fill up quickly. It is not a large place but who cares. The food is amazing! We ordered: #1 Vietnamese Steamed Rice Rolls with Meat #3 Que Ling Special Rice Noodle Soup #25 BBQ Meat, BBQ Pork Sausage & Spring Rolls with Vermicelli #1 Vietnamese Iced Coffee with Condensed milk And, because we are porky piggies, we saw a photo on the wall of a bao filled with pork & a boiled egg, so, we ordered it. It was bigger than our face and delicious. Every dish - yes, every dish - was fresh as hell and delicious. Service was friendly and fast. Shout-out to Angel who works hard to make this family business a success. Cash only. Lunch for 2 (with enough food to feed more) was 60 with tax and tip. Bargoon! We'll be back! ”
